Ivy's Review
The Adventurers Guild by Zack Loran Clark and Nick Eliopulos follows Zed Kagari and Brock Dunderfel, two best friends living in Freestone, one of the last remaining human cities in a world filled with dangerous monsters. Zed, the city's only half-elf, dreams of joining the prestigious Mages Guild to prove that he belongs despite facing prejudice because of his heritage. Brock, the son of successful merchants, expects to continue his family's legacy by entering the Merchants Guild. However, during the annual guild assignments, both boys are unexpectedly placed in the Adventurers Guild, the city's most dangerous and least respected guild, where members protect Freestone from the deadly creatures lurking beyond its walls. As they begin their training, Zed and Brock form friendships with fellow recruits Liza and Jett, learning to fight monsters, survive harsh conditions, and work together as a team. While adjusting to their new lives, they discover clues that suggest a powerful force is secretly threatening the magical barriers that keep Freestone safe. As mysterious attacks increase and hidden enemies emerge, the young adventurers must uncover the truth behind the growing danger before the city is destroyed. Along the way, they learn that courage, loyalty, and determination matter more than reputation or status, proving that even those who seem least likely to succeed can become true heroes when their world needs them most.
This book got a 4.5 out of 5 because I really liked the concept and the characters, especially Jayna and Liza. However, I noticed that most adventure books have a "final boss" at the end that the characters beat, they become heroes, etcetera. This book kind of had the final monster at the end, but not really. This book was really good, though. This is a definite page-turner that I enjoyed a lot.
If you like dystopia, adventure, and vivid and creative world building, you'll love this book.
Sorry I haven't written in a while. I've been busy. Summer, you know? From know on, I'll try to do at least 1-2 reviews a week, though. Bye!
